Istanbul Forests
The Istanbul Regional Forestry Directorate was established on February 7, 1951, covering the provinces of Istanbul, Adapazarı, Izmit, Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ.
In this region, 2.1% of the area consists of coniferous tree species, while 97.7% is predominantly covered by deciduous trees. Among the deciduous trees, oak species are the most dominant, accounting for 83% of the total. These are followed by beech, hornbeam, and chestnut forests. As for coniferous tree species, nearly 100% of them consist of pure and mixed red pine forests.
