What is the aim of the project?
It is aimed to increase the adaptation capacity of both natural ecosystems and society to climate change by effectively using forest ecosystem services in Istanbul, Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ.
Which institutions are carrying out the project?
It is carried out under the leadership of the Istanbul Regional Directorate of Forestry (İOBM), in partnership with the Nature Conservation Centre (DKM), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Chamber of Forest Engineers (OMO).
What activities are being carried out within the scope of the project?
Mapping of forest ecosystem services, development of climate change adaptation strategies, awareness-raising and capacity-building trainings, and activities enabling institutions to integrate ecosystem services into forest management processes will be carried out.
Who will benefit from the project?
Forest managers, local governments, academics, non-governmental organizations, the forestry sector, forest villagers, and segments of society directly benefiting from ecosystem services will benefit from the project.
What are the outputs obtained at the end of the project?
Concrete outputs such as a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for the Istanbul Regional Directorate of Forestry, a Guideline for Integrating Ecosystem Services into Forest Management Plans, pilot applications, training materials, and awareness campaigns will be produced.
How will the project outputs be used?
The tools, guides, and training materials developed within the scope of the project will be disseminated by integrating them into forest management and planning processes throughout Turkey. Furthermore, a wider impact area will be created by ensuring their sharing at the international level.
